Brand That We Love: Gingersnaps Turns 20 {Part 1}

When I learned that I was having a baby girl, the first thing that I thought was, "Where will I shop for mega cute baby girl clothes?!".

Totoo yan mga bakla. Yan agad ang pumasok sa isip ko.

Anika's my first baby. I had no idea where to buys clothes for her. And then I remembered the fashionable niece of my friend DC. I've always loved the clothes that she wore so I asked DC where her sister buys the clothes of her niece.

One of the brands that she mentioned was Gingersnaps.

I went to one of their stores and I fell in love. The store windows pa lang were creatively decorated. Ang cute, down to the littlest details. Inside naman the store, it's well lighted and the clothes are displayed simply lang. And then when I looked at the clothes, they really were very pretty. Mukhang pinagisipan ang mga designs. The clothes didn't look generic. The best part there, affordable siya. I swear.

And that's how my love affair with Gingersnaps started. I bought and bought and bought their clothes starting that day until the present.

Tapos ayun na, lumaki na siya agad agad.

Top and shorts from Gingersnaps
That denim shorts that I bought her when she was a year old, she was able to wear until she was almost 3 years old. Favorite niya yan.

Top from Gingersnaps
This top and skirt was a gift from her Ninang Vivian. I love getting and giving Gingersnaps gifts. You don't need to wrap them anymore because when you purchase their clothes, they come na in a cute box. Perfect for presents talaga.

The shirts from Gingersnaps are super cute. Ang tagal din ni Anika sila nasusuot. The dresses can be worn as tops when the kids get taller.

The other week, we had lunch with the owners of Gingersnaps. Starstruck ako mga ateng. I love Gingersnaps talaga and did you know that they have stores in Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand and UAE? Ang bongga right? Super successful! So when I met the owners, Sabrina and Sherry, tinitigan ko lang sila.

Good thing my fellow mommy bloggers asked them a lot of questions. Nakinig lang ako ng bongga.

Sabrina and Sherry are sisters-in-law. Sabrina started Gingersnaps 20 years ago.

SABRINA: I started Gingersnaps 20 years ago when I was in my 20s.

Lumaki mata ko. I looked at Sabrina's very young face. I started counting with my fingers. The others laughed at my reaction. Paano ba naman, Sabrina looks very youthful and fresh. Feeling ko, sa kanya talaga hinuhugot ang peg ng mga clothes sa Gingersnaps. She's the creative director din kasi eh. I don't wonder anymore bakit ang nice and refreshing ng mga designs ng clothes of that brand. Malaki ang kinalaman ni Sabrina diyan =)

It also helps that Sabrina loves children. Although she started with teens wear, she let it go to start a children's clothing line. Why Gingersnaps, you might ask? Apparently, Sabrina was a fan of Enid Blyton books. Sa mga ka-generation ko, you would know that in the Enid Blyton stories, there's always a mention of tea and gingersnaps biscuits. It sounded nice to her, so she used that as her brand name.

Another trivia... Do you know that the fabric of the clothes being sold at Gingersnaps are toxic free? Yuh. Sabrina kasi is a mom also. Being a mom, of course, hindi niya naman maatim to sell clothes for kids without checking the fabrics if they are safe for kids. Ang galing di ba?

Gingersnaps has been around for 20 years already, them having 31 boutiques and 25 department stores corners nationwide. I really do hope they will continue on for another 20 years. I want my grandkids to wear Gingersnaps too =)

Happy 20th year, Gingersnaps!!!
