Sombrero Sitcom: It's Been A While

Wowa recently just bought a hearing aid. She's been having a difficult time hearing for as long as I can remember. Akala ko psychological lang, hindi pala. Good thing she got one already. She was telling us about it over dinner.

WOWA: Nakabili na ako ng hearing aid.

ME: Magkano po yan?

WOWA: Sixty five thousand.

ME: Grabe. Ang mahal naman niyan. San mo binili?

WOWA: Ha?

ME: San mo po yan binili?

WOWA: Ha?

ME: San mo nabili?!

WOWA: Ha?

ME: Ang sabi ko po, fake yang hearing aid mo. Palitan mo.

Another time...

ME: Ma, nagluto po ako ng pasta. Iniwan ko dun sa lutuan mo.

WOWA: Ha?

ME: Iniwan ko yung niluto kong pasta dun sa lutuan mo.

WOWA: Ha?

ME: Ano ka ba Ma! Suot mo po ba hearing aid mo?!

WOWA: Oo noh! Kakapalit ko lang kaya ng battery.

Ahh. Baka yung battery yung fake.

Sombrero's turn!

I was blogging one night while Alvin was watching TV.

ME: Babe, anong English ng sayang?

ALVIN: Oh snap.

Oh snap amp! Hahahahaha!

The other night, I was studying with Anika. We were answering one of her workbooks. The instruction was to match the object to its opposite.

ME: Anika, you have to match this object to its opposite.

ANIKA: Nanay, what's opposite?

Shet. Paano ko ba eexplain dito sa bata yung opposite?

ME: Opposite! It's like the opposite of high is low. The opposite of hot is cold. The opposite of long is short.

Hindi magets ng bagets.

ANIKA: What's opposite, Nanay?

I turned to Alvin for help.

ME: Babe, what's opposite?

ALVIN: Opposite, hindi mo pa alam?! The other!

ME: Anong the other?!

ALVIN: Ano ba! Opposite di ba is kabaliktaran? Eh di the other side!

Tinago ko na lang ang workbook na yun.

Toots, Wowa and I were talking about attraction. Ang hilig kasi sa maganda ng kapatid ko.

WOWA: Tandaan mo Toots, when everything wanes, ang matitira diyan yung kung paano kayo makipagconverse sa isa't isa.

TOOTS: Anong wanes? Panalo?

Oo Toots, panalo. As in, you can wane that!

One time out of the blue,

ALVIN: Babe, magkano na ba sweldo mo?

I told him.

ALVIN: Grabe. Bakit parang hindi ko naman nararamdaman yan?

ME: What do you mean?

ALVIN: Eh hingi ka pa din ng hingi sa akin eh.

ME: Naman. Lambing lang yun. Kung hindi na ako hihingi sayo, eh di baka ako na lang ang natatanging asawa sa mundong ito na hindi na humihingi sa mga husbands nila. Ayoko ko nga maging outcast.
