Relaunch of Cable Car Makati

Good morning guys! I went out last Friday  night with my girls. Re-launch kasi ng Cable Car. After that, I was inspired to write a letter to Anika about gimmiks because I know time will come, magpapaalam na yan sa amin ni Alvin lumabas.

Here it is!

Dearest Anika,

Time will come that you will ask permission from your Tatay and me to go out. I have discussed this with your Tatay this early. He said that he will never permit you to go out. I told him that it would not be fair to you. I told him to let you enjoy your youth just like I enjoyed mine. Sabi ko, wag kang pagbawalan kasi the more na tatakas ka. Ay anak, alam na alam ko na yan. Like what they say, papunta ka pa lang, pabalik-balik na ako.

I can understand why your Tatay's like that though. Back during the time that we were going to "discos" and bars, the girls who were there were wearing really konting clothes. Ang usong get-up dati for girls was spaghetti strap tops or tube tops paired with skirts or low rise jeans. For sure, enjoy na enjoy ang Tatay mo to look at these girls. Pero now siguro, he's imagining you as one of them, feeling niya ma-ha-heart attack siya.

And when we talk about naman the way these girls dance, grabe. Giling kung giling ang peg. Don't ask Nanay if I know how to dance like that. Ask Tatay na lang. Hahahaha.

Anyways, some, if not majority, of the boys that go out that time were actually there to meet girls and with the hopes of (omg) bringing them somewhere to "score". I will tell you more about that when you're a bit older, like 30 years old or something. I know this because most of my friends are guys. Kinukwento nila yan sa akin. Wala pa ako sa liquor niyan ha? Pagmaganda ka and natype-an ka, boys will keep on buying you drinks to get you know you better. Swerte na lang if those boys have good intentions, maging friends lang. Malas if they have hidden agendas. Kaya ikaw anak, you have to follow what I do in case payagan ka na ng Tatay mo lumabas. Never accept drinks from anyone when you're out. Never ever let them buy you drinks. You'll never know what they put there.

These are some of the reasons why I understand why your Tatay would get overprotective of you. Pero I keep telling him that what we need to do now until that time is to instill good values in you. Para kahit gumimik ka man ng gumimik, we will be assured that you're out having fun and not do anything stupid.

Anyways, back to my kwento, last Friday, your Ninang Michelle and Ninong JR invited us to attend the re-launch of Cable Car in Makati. They're one of the owners kasi. I came from work so I was wearing this:

We arrived at Cable Car around 9pm. Wala pang tao, lekat na yan. What time do these kids start to go out na ba? Back in our days anak, 9pm lang ma-tao na eh.

Anyways, the new Cable Car looks so nice! All better talaga compared to it's last look.

You should know anak that Cable Car was your nanay's favorite gimik place because of the Cable Car Rice, inexpensive drinks and the famous videoke. I always go there with my friends for all the reasons there was: birthday celebrations, meet ups with friends, break-ups etc. Happy or sad, I was at Cable Car =)

During those times. I'll be at Cable Car with my coin purse full of 5 peso coins for the videoke. Actually anak, Nanay doesn't go there to drink naman talaga. I'd have one glass of draft beer that would last me the whole night then a coin purse full of coins tapos magvivideoke galore na ako. Masaya na ako ng ganun and that will last me the entire night already. You should see the different people that I get to meet there. They're mostly yuppies and gays who can out-sing any professional singer sa kantang Better Days. Ang saya talaga.

I checked out the bar section last Friday with your Ninang Vivian. It felt familiar pero hindi na ako yun eh. Lumipas na yata talaga ang panahon ko sa ganyan.

I had fun chatting with your ninangs that night...

... yun lang, around 10pm we were very sleepy already. Except for your Ninang Arnaiz who recently just got married, your three ninangs are mommies na. Kaya siguro tamad na gumimik. Thunders na thunders ang peg.

Also, we were kinda irritated with the loud music. Ang lakas! My throat was hurting already from shouting too much because I was telling them a kwento. We realized that yan nga naman talaga ang normal volume ng sounds sa gimikan. Mga lola na ata talaga kami.

And the songs! Naku, we can't relate anymore. The DJ must've noticed this because suddenly tumugtog ang songs of the early 2000! Bigla kaming nabuhayan! Pero when we looked around, naku, hindi na uso yung mga dance steps namin. When we danced it, we looked funny. I need to learn the new dance steps of the future anak. Para in pa din ako when I go with you on gimiks. Lol!

After a while, we packed up already. Sleepy na talaga kami pero the kids around us were just starting to enjoy the party. I can't catch up na so your Tatay and I have a plan. When the time comes that you start going out already, your Tatay and I will sleep na from 6pm to 10pm then saka lang we'll go out so that we can hang out nearby wherever you'll be. Pasensya na anak, gwardya sibil ang peg namin. When you have kids na, mage-gets mo din kami.

Love,

Nanay
