Sombrero Family Sitcom

Have you ever watched the John En Marsha sitcom on TV? It was one of the longest running TV sitcom in the 80s. It starred Dolphy and the late Nida Blanca as husband and wife with Maricel Soriano as their daughter.

Eh yung Pugad Baboy komiks? Have you read it?

I'm asking because Alvin and I were talking yesterday and we noticed that our family is like a real life sitcom, a combination of the John EN Marsha and Pugad Baboy. Lalo na now that we have our new help, Jekjek.

Jekjek is Girlie's opposite. Girlie's rail thin while JekJek's healthy, as in medyo mataba. Girlie doesn't eat that much while Jekjek's really matakaw. Girlie's shy while Jekjek's not.

One day, Alvin wanted to re-do the interior of our house.

ALVIN: Babe, baguhin kaya natin ang arrangement dito sa loob ng bahay.

ME (while looking around): Um babe, paano mo pa irere-arrange ang bahay eh sobrang liit lang nito? It's like you're three steps away from everything.

ALVIN: Hindi. Kahit yung TV lang natin. I-sabit na lang natin sa pader.

GIRLIE (butting in): Okay yan kuya! Para parang nasa bus lang tayo!

Last Sunday, we were all inside the car going home from the mall.

ME: Girlie, ang payat payat mo na talaga. Bakit ba ang payat mo?!

JEKJEK (butting in from the backseat): Inuubos ko po kasi pagkain niya.

Last night, Alvin, me and Jekjek were watching Will Time Big Time, a game show in Channel 5.

ME: Jekjek, sumali nga kayo diyan sa show ni Willie para magkapera kayo.

JEKJEK: Ang layo kaya niyan Ate. Sa novaliches pa yan.

ALVIN: Sige Jek, ihahatid ko kayo pero sa isang kundisyon. Magpractice ka muna ngayon. O kunwari ako si Willie. Anong pangalan mo?

JEKJEK: Jekjek po.

ALVIN: San ka nakatira Jekjek?

JEKJEK: Sa may amin po.

ALVIN: Umayos ka kaya ng sagot. Pano ka kukunin ni Willie niyan! O game. Anong trabaho ng nanay mo?

JEKJEK: Wala po. Housewife.

ALVIN: Anong trabaho ng tatay mo?

JEKJEK: Wala din po. Houseband po siya.

ME: Jek parang nasa banda lang tatay mo ah.

ALVIN: San ka nagtratrabaho ngayon?

JEKJEK (raising both her hands ala beauty queen): Kala ALVIN SOMBRERO po!!

Grabe, I almost choked what I was eating! Nakakaloka! Hahaha! =)
