Shhh... Anika Ate Ice Cream!

Alvin's mega super duper sobra sobrang over protective of Anika. So exage that sometimes it drives me crazy. I have mentioned here before that Anika received chocolates from the mom of her playmate, Yusaf (who's living na in Saudi with his parents). Alvin got angry. Akala ko nagaarte-arte lang. Hindot, maya maya I realized sersyoso pala.

ALVIN: Ikaw Girlie, wag kang tatanggap tanggap ng chocolate para kay Anika ha! (bad trip)

Girlie looked at me with a look na "Si kuya ba eh ayos lang teh?!"

People, Yusaf is like one year old noh. As if naman kaya na niyang i-tanan si Anika.

ME: Babe. Chill. Seriously.

Remember two weeks ago when Anika got sick? Alvin took her temperature then acted as if may sunog sa bahay namin. I looked at the thermometer and saw that it registered 37.7 degrees Celsius.

ME: Wag ka ngang magpanic Babe. Sinat lang naman ito. Wala siyang cough and colds.

ALVIN: Kahit na! Kawawa naman siya. Nahihirapan yan. (in fairness ha, he looked really anguished)

Naku, pano pa kaya pagkinasal na si Anika? Baka kailanganin ng Tatay niya maturukan ng tranquilizer.

Anyways, given all that ofcourse, Alvin's really maselan on what to feed Anika. Would you believe that up until a month ago, Anika never ate junk food?! Puros vegetables, fruits, chicken, meat, fish and rice lang. Ayaw kasi ng Tatay magintroduce ng "unhealthy" food. Anika's super umay na umay na with what she's eating that she only eats rice with sabaw lang nowadays.  Kaloka talaga.

And so I talked to Alvin. I cited examples. Other babies like Anika's age are fed na naman like French fries, ice cream, cookies, chocolates etc. Buhay pa naman sila, healthy pa. Kaya sana let Anika explore other food, junk or not. Buti pumayag but on the condition na super konti lang. Fine with me because tama nga naman.

So now, we can give Anika like chocolate wafers, fries, cupcakes and ice cream. Tuwang tuwa ang lola niyo!

Here she was when we gave her ice cream. Alvin was out playing basketball that time. Hihi.

"Nanay, so this is ice cream!"

"I have two spoons. I can feed myself with them on my own!"

ME: Lagot ka anak when your Tatay sees you like that.
"Please don't tell Tatay..." - Anika

"Yummy!!!"

Obvious ba na enjoy na enjoy ang anak ko? =)

Simot sarap! Slurp!

Nakaconcentrate pa yan ha?
Don't worry, we didn't give her that much. Also, we made her drink plenty of water after that. Para hindi magkatonsilitis kundi, I'm so dead.

  1. i agree... there's no harm in exposing kids to junk food -- in moderation of course! i don't buy potato chips or ice cream sa grocery but we do have fries and ice cream every week at mcdonald's (that's our family bonding time eh!). of course, i make sure to feed my kids the good stuff like chicken, fish, soup, bread, fruits, cereals, veggies. naalala ko nung bata ako, super duper bawal ang potato chips. as in once in a blue moon lang kami allowed to eat it. so much so that i'd find myself making takas in the school canteen, buying clover bits and cheese curls. o kaya hihingi sa mga classmates na may baon na chips, hehe. you can't shield a child from junk food forever too. pag may nag invite sa kanya sa jollibee party, kawawa naman if she doesn't eat the burgers and sundaes diba? not to mention all those kiddie parties na may hotdogs, dirty ice cream, popcorn, potato corner, jimini pizza... my kids have classmates who are absolutely not allowed to eat snacks like donuts, hotdogs, etc. so pag may school party, nasa isang tabi lang sila eating their own baon. medyo kawawa din diba? so i'm pretty lenient when it comes to that while still making sure everything is done in moderation. =)

  3. Hubby doesn't want our Anika eating sweets too... naku pati tuloy ako pinagbabawalan para wag daw mainggit! Hehe.. pero he relents naman once in awhile. Super cute ng babies when they're eating food they really like, noh? Kaka-tempt tuloy.. ;)
