The Filipino Spirit Is Waterproof*

I'm at the office na now. Life goes on to some of us lucky people who weren't that affected with the habagat that caused massive flood across the metro. I wish I could say the same for our poor countrymen na nayanig ang kanilang mundo because of what happened.

It's so weird because the thing that caused this disaster is not even a bagyo! Habagat pa lang siya! Ika nga dun sa nabasa ko sa Facebook, hiyang hiya naman daw si Ondoy sa Habagat na yun. Si Ondoy daw bagyo while Habagat's just terrible wind and rain. Pero the disaster that this Habagat brought to Metro Manila is worse than that of Ondoy. Kaloka isipin!

Looking at the photos below (which I got from Yahoo Philippines), I can't help but to bite my fingernails.

There are so many people out there who needs our help. They need clothing, blankets, ready to eat food, toiletries etc. I had Alvin buy in the groceries some tissues, canned goods, alcohol and soap. Sabi kasi ni Kris Aquino sa Twitter, eto daw yung super kailangan nila.

I was surprised because even for a small amount, ang dami na pa lang pwedeng mabili! Alvin and I brought this to my friend's house last night. Dadalhin daw nila tomorrow to one of the relief centers. To know more about where you can volunteer and bring your relief goods, you can see the list HERE.

Also I would like to remind you guys NOT TO DONATE FORMULA MILK FOR BABIES!!! It's dangerous because mommies in the evacuation sites are not sure if the water that they have there is safe for babies. Sometimes kung san san lang sila kumukuha ng water! Here's an article about it from Jenny of the blog, Chronicles of a Nursing Mom. If you are a currently breastfeeding momma and God gifted you with abundant milk, please, please donate some of your breast milk! Cribs Foundation is accepting breastmilk donations so please donate there!

My friend and I were BBM-ing this morning. They will be bringing their donations daw to the south area like in Cavite and Laguna. We were talking about how amazing it is that we Filipinos really help each other out in times like this. I want to salute Divine Lee because I have been monitoring Twitter the past few days and talaga namang todo help ang lola niyo. It's really nice how people like her take advantage of their popularity and means to help out in times like these.

Ang dami pa nila diyan na tumulong. The establishments like McDonalds, Jollibee, 7-Eleven, Binalot, LBC etc offered to take donations. My friend Cat who owns Chic-Boy packed adobo rice for donations last night. Enderun yesterday cooked meals for 4,000 people! Nakaka-kilabot talaga all their efforts.

How about you guys? Please try your best to help out in any way you can. You can donate or volunteer to pack the goods.
