Kota Kinabalu Series: Gaya Market and Other Gala

The next morning, Wowa woke us all up very early because she wanted to go to the Gaya Market. Gaya Market is a street-long tiangge located at Gaya Street which appears only every Sunday mornings.

Nangotrata na naman kami ng 2 taxis (RM12 each) to take us to Gaya Street. Sana nilakad na lang pala namin. Anlapit lang eh!

Anyways, here are the photos.

Outfit of the day: chic palengke look.

Nagkakatawaran. It was only me and Wowa that time. We were making tawad the malong. Then dumating ang LT and Faye, the tindera didn't stand a chance. We got our malong ata very affordable price =)

Wowa and I went back to the hotel ahead of LT, Faye and Fonz. Ang init eh. And the market was getting congested already. Nahihilo na kaming mag-ina. The thing with this trip is that I discovered how similar me and Mama are. It's scary. We're both gala, shopaholic, hates the sun, impatient, hard the outside but soft in the inside etc. The realization is scary. But, maganda si Wowa. She's aging really well. Magiging ganyan din ako =)

Anyways, while waiting for a taxi, a parade passed by.

The taxi brought us back to the hotel. After resting, we all trooped to the mall near our place to shop more and to get Starbucks.

Anika enjoyed riding here. Nanakit likod ni Alvin

The barista was very curious about my order: Green Tea Frap with Hazelnut syrup. She kept on asking how it tastes, gusto ko na ibigay sa kanya yung drink ko.

Shopping with Anika in tow wasn't easy. Naawa ako kay Girlie and Alvin so we went back to the hotel agad to rest =)

Check out where we had dinner that night after this!

Kota Kinabalu Series: That Chinese Restaurant

I seriously need to finsh my Kota Kinabalu series! =)

Anyways, the night after we went to the beach, we went around the mall to find a place to have dinner...

..and found this!

It's just so weird that they named it La Manila eh hindi naman Filipino food ang sineserve.

Anyways, while Alvin and I were busy shopping for his rubber shoes (Nike was on 60% sale that time), Anika to one of the bookstores with her Nangnang. I am so happy that Anika's love for books is showing this early.

Dress from SM Department store, sneakers from Converse

We then saw this restaurant and decided to try it out.

Faye ordered a Cappuccino soda. It like a normal soda where they mixed cappuccino and topped it with cappuccino foam. She liked it but for me it tasted so odd!

After dinner we went around to (whatelse?!) shop. Like I said, Kota Kinabalu is definitely not a place for shopping (compared to HK and Bangkk). All we  found were these:

Are these their national costume kaya?

After going around (Wowa bought a scarf from one of the kiosks), some of our kababayans who works for this massage spa, convinced us to have massages. I'll post photos as soon as I upload it from Wowa's camera but I'm telling you, it was one of the best massages I have ever had! And to top it off, Wowa AND Toots, loved it too! =)

After that, we went home then borlogs na! =)

Stuff Heard At The Sombrero Household (again) =D

One weekend, I decided to make tacos. At dahil shoshonga-shonga ako sa kusina, I asked Jekjek to buy cabbage. When she got back, I realized I should've asked her to buy lettuce.

ME: Jek, sorry. Mali na pabili ko sayo. Paki bili naman ng lettuce na lang.

JEKJEK: Ano po yung lettuce?

GIRLIE: Ano ba yan! Hindi mo alam kung ano yung lettuce?! Yun kaya yung hinahalo sa everything!

JEKJEK: Anong everything?!

GIRLIE: Everything na hilaw diba?!

ME: Salad yun Girl.

GIRLIE: Yun nga po Ati.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

And then Jekjek suddenly butted in.

We looked at Jekjek in astonishment.

JEKJEK: Ang dali naman niyan!

And then walks away.

Pak!!!!!!!

The World According to Anika

We arrived home early last night. Our little girl was still up and bouncing about.. literally. I dunno kung ano nakain nun but she was so overactive and bibo last night! It was so funny!!

She kept on getting her books and pointing out the things there. I was so surprised because she knows so many words now! Here are some of the items she kept on showing us.

ANIKA: Bull!! One..

ME: Two..

ANIKA: Reeee...

ME: Four...

She slams the book shut. Then opens it to this page.

ANIKA: Duuugg!

ME: Dog!

She claps her hand and then points at it again then says: "Dooooog!!

ANIKA: Car!

ME: Very good! High Five!

She raises her palm to high five me and her Tatay.

ANIKA: Ah-pul!

OMG! That's the longest word I have ever heard her speak! Yaaay!! High five!

ANIKA: Ah-pul!

Yahoo!!! Hahaha! She so cute! She can identify the photo already! High five!

She keeps on repeating it para maka-high five.

ANIKA: Ah-pul!!

And then I suddenly realized,

ME: Babe, was she saying Apul not Apple?

ANIKA: Ah-pul!!!!!

Nagkatinginan kami mag-asawa.

ME: Girlieeeeeeeeee!!!!!

ME: This is a...

ANIKA: Mee-yaw!

ANIKA: Ays-rim!!

Then she pretends to get some ice cream in the photo and stuffs her hand inside my mouth while making sounds like, nomnomnom.

ME: What is this?

ANIKA: Grrrrrr! (With matching hand gesture)

ANIKA: Moon!

ANIKA: Oh-enj!

ANIKA: Tur-tu.

Hindi ko lang napicturan but there was a photo of a monkey in her book. She pointed at it and shouted:

"Mom-mee!!!"

Then she looked at me.

Jekjek looked at me too.

JEKJEK: Hahahaha! Ati! Monkey ka daw! Hahahaha!

ME: Ang epal mo talaga Jek. Ano ginagawa mo dito? Di ba sabi ko maghain ka na?!

Jekjek went away still laughing.

---------------------------------------------------

I had to document this lest I forget in the future. Anika is in her cutest stage right now. Para siyang sponge na inaabsorb all the things that we teach her. Super adorable talaga. She really takes the day's stress away! =)
