Why I'm Walang Kwenta

I'm a burara. Nobody needs to point this out to me anymore because I have long accepted that I'm burara. For my other readers, burara is a bisaya term for careless. I'm like that especially with things, particularly jewelries. I lose them.

All. The. Feaking. Time.

In the eighties, I remember, uso pa dati yung three rings kada-hand. My mom had those. One each for the pinky, ring and middle finger. Then it had a stone for each ring. I started wearing the smallest one in third grade. Nawala ko. Then I wore the ring finger ring. Nawala ko din. Lumaki ako and ang natira na lang is the biggest one. Sa awa ng Diyos, nawala ko din.

Back in college, my mom gave me a diamond tennis bracelet. To those who don't know what it is, it looks like this:

Super ingat ako. As in. But one day, I was walking along taft avenue in front of La Salle when I realized I don't have my bracelet on anymore. Syet. Parang gusto kong maglayas sa takot sa mudra ko. I lost the bracelet. I just prayed that time na sana ang nakadampot is someone who really needs money. Yung nangangailangan talaga.

Anyways, now that I'm married, guess what I lost? 

Yep. 

I lost my wedding ring. 

Wala talaga akong kwentang tao.

I mean who loses their wedding rings right?! And what the hell does that mean if you lose your wedding ring (except the fact na ako na, ako na talaga ang reyna ng mga burara)?!

I took off my wedding ring because it didn't fit anymore. But one day, I tried it on and after ilang pilit, nagkasya din. Happy ako. But one day, my finger was itching like there's no tomorrow. May contact dermatitis daw ako. So I took it off and put it inside my wallet in the coins compartment. Nawala.

I'm so freaking dead. I've tried telling Alvin a couple of times.

ME: Babe, di ko makita yung wedding ring ko.

ALVIN: Nandyan lang yan.

Repeat this scenario 5 times.

Last night, I was such in pain because of my fourth wisdom tooth. I decided to tell him I really lost it and hoped he will not get mad kasi kaawa awa ang hitsura ko kagabi.

ME: Babe, nawala ko yung wedding ring.

ALVIN: Nandyan lang yan.

ME: Wala talaga Babe. Nawala ko.

Silence.

Shet. Ako na talaga ang pinakawalang kwentang asawa sa mundong ibabaw.

ME: Babe sorry na. Di ko sinasadya. I'll save up para we can buy another pair and let's have Fr. Ariel bless it again for us. Sorry na talaga. Hindi ko sinasadya. (tears were forming at the corner of my eyes)

ALVIN: Sige it's okay.

That's all he said then kissed me goodnight.

But I can see that it wasn't okay. He didn't get mad. It made me feel so much worse.

Tubuan sana ng kurikong kumuha ng wedding ring ko.

    ok lang yan. material things are replaceable. you can easily buy a new ring anytime, but a loving, wonderful marriage cannot ever be bought! =)

    I'm like that din. Almost all the gifts na binigay ni Jeff dati nawala, like a watch I lost at the beach, a wallet that got stolen and more pa. Buti I still have my engagement ring and wedding ring. Our wedding rings weren't that expensive. I know myself kaya I dont like to buy expensive jewelry.

    Sana na misplace mo lang Nana, eh pano kaya nakuha sa coins compartment ng wallet mo?

    Mare...ako ata ang isa sa mga may first-hand experience nyan...i lent you a gold ring with my initials that my lola gave me...natapakan mo (in your old condo) then you borrowed it...nawala mo rin. :P hahaha! buti nalang yung sa ate ko andyan pa, papakopya ko nalang. :)

    Mommy Fleur, just let it go for now. I have a feeling that it'll crop up somewhere in the future, na-misplace lang yan.

    Tignan mo, you'll be looking for a blouse or packing up Anika Summer's too-small-for-her clothes one day and bigla nalang magpapakita yang ring na yan. :)

    Tip: focus on doing special (albeit little) things for jowa. Hindi lang yan nagsasalita pero affected yan.
