Notable Conversations Before The Year Ends

Alvin, Anika and I were at Powerplant Mall two weeks ago. Ikot ikot...

ALVIN: Babe o! May karyol pala dito! (pointing to a store)

ME: Babe, Charriol yan. You pronounce it as sharyol. Pronounce it right babe.

While ordering at Pizza Hut with Girlie..

ME: Girlie, order na o! Merong silang sulit packages. Pili ka lang diyan kung ano gusto mong combi.

GIRLIE: Basta akin teh yung pizza hut.

ME: Nasa pizza hut na tayo girl. Baka pizza ibig mong sabihin. Sige pizza tapos anong kasama? Soup or salad? Try mo yung cesar salad nila, masarap.

GIRLIE: Ayoko niyan teh. Di ako kumakain ng hilaw na damo.

Pak!!!! =D

ME: Na-sasad ako Babe. Wala man lang ako nabili for myself this Christmas.

ALVIN: Wag ka ma-sad. Sige na, bilhin mo na yung shades na gusto mo sa Charles and Kits.

ME: Charles and KEITH!

ALVIN: Ano ba! Ayaw mo o gusto?!

ME: Oo na.. San ba ang pinakamalapit dito na Charles and KITS?!

=)

Text from Girlie:

"6ud d4i, ate, n4p4sn ny0 p0wh un6 typ n 4nk4 ung b60 ny0n6 bli!? nwl4 p0wh kc d2,"

Tragis! Ano daw?!

In case you want to know.. She meant "Good day, ate, napansin niyo po yung tape ni Anika yung bago niyong bili? Nawala po kasi dito". By tape, she meant the Baby Genius DVD Cd of Anika. Kaloka!

Hopefully come 2011, I have more kwentos like this for you guys! =)

Advanced Happy New Year!!!

Pre-Birthday Musings

I'm so excited!!!!

It's gonna be my birthday in THREE DAYS!!!!

Syet, huling taon ko na nasa kalendaryo pa!

Okay lang. Pasok na pasok pa age ko sa lotto.

But I have to take care of my skin better this year. I'm having a hard time already convincing people that I'm just 25.

I have to watch my weight too. I cannot keep on using that I just gave birth as an excuse. Malapit nang maglakad anak ko. Mukha pa din akong bagong panganak.

I will try my best to stay away from people I don't like. They make a mark on my face. Hindi worth it ang wrinkles dahil sa kanila.

I'm older and supposed to be wiser. Kelangan ko na matuto magluto ng ADOBO. First step ng cooking daw yan. Nakakahiya na talaga sa asawa ko.

Sana hindi ko na lang pinakialaman yung cellphone ng asawa ko. I ruined tuloy his surprise party for me. Pakialamera kasi ako. Ayan, wala na tuloy kaming maisip na gagawin sa birthday ko.

What will I do kaya on Sunday (January 2)? Dapat walang gastos kasi tagtipid kami ngayon. Please don't tell me to stay at home. May outfit na si Anika, sayang naman.

Lastly, out of nowhere, I want to thank the supporters of my blog. Your comments and appreciation for it warms my heart. Naririnig ko lang na natutuwa kayo sa mga nababasa niyo dito, okay na talaga na birthday gift for me. Pero magbigay pa din sana kayo ng regalo. Ako lang ang taong walang bonus this year, kayo meron no. Basbasan niyo naman ako.

Bow.

=D

Post Holidays Analysis

As you all know, this is my first Christmas as a mom. For me to have something to go back to when I'm older (and hopefully, wiser), I will make my Post Holiday Analysis for the year 2010.

1.) Christmas is indeed for kids. I realize I am indeed no longer a kid. I didn't enjoy it this time the way I did in the past. Wala na akong gifts! It was all about Anika! All my friends, relatives and members of the family had (not only one!) but lots of gifts for her. As in, Christmas Eve, we were out shopping for MORE Christmas gifts for our little baby. In fairness, unang apo kasi.

2.) I shouldn't have gone all out in the Christmas decors. If you can see our house, para kaming cabaret. We have two parols with lights na isang dangkal lang ang layo sa isa't isa, we have a lot of lights sa bushes and trees and we have three hanging snowmen with lights sa garage too. This is not counting the lights we have on our Christmas Tree ha. OA talaga si hubby sa pagdedecor this year because of Anika. Pero akala niyo natuwa ang lola niyo? No. Keber niya sa lights. So may this be a learning for you newlywed couples. It's not really that practical to make career the decors because your infant babies wouldn't care less. Try next year.

3.) Nakakaloka pagmay anak na! We were invited to lunches and dinners at different houses and restaurants! I know it's really because of Anika. Kasi naman, nung kami pa lang ng asawa ko, keber sila sa amin. Pero now, hala sige, text ng text ang mga lolo at lola! Punta daw kami dun! Kain daw kami sa labas! I'm not REALLY complaining here though. It warms my heart that they want to see my baby girl. Feeling ko, love na love nila si Anika.

4.) I am so disorganized this Christmas! I'm an OC person. The years before, I have gifts for everyone who's dear to me. Kumpleto yan. May outfits na din ako for every day from December 20 to January 2. However, this Christmas, kulang kulang ang mga regalo ko for everyone. I feel na hindi talaga ako ready sa pasko! Ang daming walang gifts! I wasn't able also to make papalit for small bills for those carolers and sa mga namamasko! And the worst part is.. I wasn't able to buy new clothes for myself. As in. Wala. Pero wag kayo, ang Anika ko, kumpleto sa damit! Walang ulit! =D Motherhood nga naman!

5.) Lastly, inspite and despite all the commotion, I am happy that Alvin, Anika and I were able to sneak in quality time together this holidays. Sa room lang kaming tatlo morning of December 25. Anika was making daldal at me and her Tatay. We were playing with her and hubby was making her harot, which she loves. We were like that until I looked up to our wall clock and realized that we need to leave na for Anika's lola's house. Fifteen minutes lang but I am grateful for that already. Everything that matters to me were on that bed with me that time. Receiving a kiss from hubby while Anika gives us that adorable toothless grin of hers is enough Christmas gift for a first time mom like me.

Stressful? Yeah. But at the end of the day, I appreciated Christmas this year. I can't wait for the coming years! =)

Stupid Things Said In Court

One of the nice blogs I read now is Savvy Mode. I got this from her blog and I found it hilarious!! I wanna share it with you guys:

(I dedicate this blog entry to one of my bestfriends, Atty. Vivian Tan-Dela Cruz. Hindi niyo naitatanong, meron po akong kaibigan na ubod ng loka loka. Lawyer po siya. Nagtop 10 po siya sa bar exams. No offense to her pero hindi ko yun inexpect. Bwahaha. I love her so much!! I miss you mare!)

P.S.

Mare, join naman ako sa mga court appearances mo so that I can witness these things! At saka, para may pictures ka habang nagoorder in the court ang judge divah? =)

Stupid Things Said in Court....

These are from a book called Disorder in the American Courts, and are things
people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published
by court reporters that had the torment of staying calm while these
exchanges were actually taking place.

ATTORNEY:     What was the first thing your husband said  to you that morning?
WITNESS:      He said, 'Where am I, Cathy?'
ATTORNEY:     And why did that upset you?
  WITNESS:      My name is Susan!
  ____________________________________________

ATTORNEY:     What gear were you in at the moment of the impact?
  WITNESS:      Gucci sweats and  Reeboks.
  ____________________________________________

  ATTORNEY:     Are you sexually active?
WITNESS:      No, I just lie  there.
  ____________________________________________

ATTORNEY:     This myasthenia gravis, does it affect your memory at all?
  WITNESS:      Yes.
ATTORNEY:     And in what ways does it affect your memory?
  WITNESS:      I forget..
ATTORNEY:     You  forget?  Can you give us an example of something you forgot?
  ___________________________________________

ATTORNEY:     Do you know if your daughter has ever been involved in voodoo?
  WITNESS:      We both do.
  ATTORNEY:     Voodoo?
  WITNESS:      We do..
  ATTORNEY:     You do?
  WITNESS:      Yes,  voodoo.
  ____________________________________________

ATTORNEY:     Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until
  the next morning?
WITNESS:      Did you actually pass the bar exam?
  ____________________________________

ATTORNEY:     The youngest son, the 20-year-old, how old is he?
WITNESS:      He's 20, much like your IQ.
  ___________________________________________

ATTORNEY:     Were you present when your picture was taken?
  WITNESS:      Are you shitting me?
  _________________________________________

ATTORNEY:     So the date of conception (of the baby) was August  8th?
  WITNESS:      Yes.
ATTORNEY:     And what were you doing at that time?
  WITNESS:      Getting laid
  ____________________________________________

ATTORNEY:     She had three children, right?
  WITNESS:      Yes.
  ATTORNEY:     How many were boys?
  WITNESS:      None.
  ATTORNEY:     Were there any girls?
WITNESS:      Your Honor, I think I need a different attorney. Can I get a new attorney?
  ____________________________________________

ATTORNEY:     How was your first marriage terminated?
  WITNESS:      By death..
ATTORNEY:     And by whose death was it terminated?
  WITNESS:      Take a guess.
  ____________________________________________

ATTORNEY:     Can you describe the individual?
WITNESS:      He was about medium height and had a beard
ATTORNEY:     Was this a male or a female?
WITNESS:      Unless the Circus was in town I'm going with male.
  _____________________________________

ATTORNEY:     Is your appearance here this morning pursuant to a
deposition notice which I sent to your attorney?
WITNESS:      No, this is how I dress when I go to work.
  ______________________________________

ATTORNEY:     Doctor, how many of your autopsies have you performed on
dead people?
WITNESS:      All of them.. The live ones put up too much of a fight.
  _________________________________________

ATTORNEY:     ALL your responses MUST be oral, OK?   What school did you go to?
  WITNESS:      Oral...
  _________________________________________

ATTORNEY:     Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
  WITNESS:      The autopsy started around
8:30 PM  ATTORNEY:     And Mr. Denton was dead at the time?
WITNESS:      If not, he was by the time I finished.
  ____________________________________________

ATTORNEY:     Are you qualified to give a urine sample?
WITNESS:      Are you qualified to ask that  question?
  ______________________________________

  And  last:

ATTORNEY:     Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
  WITNESS:      No.
ATTORNEY:     Did you check for blood pressure?
  WITNESS:      No.
ATTORNEY:     Did you check for breathing?
  WITNESS:      No..
ATTORNEY:     So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
  WITNESS:      No.
ATTORNEY:     How can you be so sure, Doctor?
WITNESS:      Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
ATTORNEY:     I see, but could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?
WITNESS:      Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law.

Hope you enjoyed it!!! =D

Dinner at Sakae Sushi in Mall of Asia

December 27 was a holiday because instead of celebrating Bonifacio Day on the 30th, they moved it to the nearest Monday. Hubby and I decided to have a date night. We got overwhelmed by running around from one family house to another so that our family and relatives could see Anika. We barely had time for ourselves. So we went to Mall of Asia to have dinner and watch sana Dalaw. Hubby's a horror film fanatic (but I'm not). Pero sige I agreed to watch it. Sadly, no more seats na when we got there. So we just ate at this nice Japanese Restaurant.
Outfit credits: Zara top, Leggings from Forever 21, Ballet flats from Topshop, Pink sling bag from Forever 21

We ate at Sakae Sushi in MOA. They had all day Sushi Buffet for Php 399 which includes soup and bottomless Green Tea! We HAD to try it out!

If you want pala din to go ala cart, the prices will depend on the color of the plate you'll get from that rotating thing like the one in the airport when you wait for your baggages.

See? We were seated in front of the rotating thing. You'd just pick the dish you want. But be careful, you have to finish it otherwise they'll fine you.

Sushis coming and going past us! What to pick? What to pick?

I let this delicious looking tofu pass me by because when it arrived I was full na. That's my tip, don't just eat and eat because they don't take out all the dishes at the same time. Especially for the red dishes, minsanan lang siya lumabas.

First I got this California Maki.

Hubby made me try this sushi that he picked. It was delish!

This is my favorite. I kept on getting this dish! Tanggal umay yung mayo and the crabsticks and corn.

Hubby got this thinking that there's meat inside. Rice lang pala ang laman!

This is one of my favorites too!

The buffet includes this masarap na Miso soup and this refreshing iced tea! I got the cold one while hubby ordered the hot tea.

The tax is already included in the price and they do not have service charge =)

My stack of plate is the one in the left, yung right kay alvin. I computed, sulit na sulit si alvin sa buffet!! And as usual, lugi kami sa akin! Haha! Rice kasi halos lahat! Kaloka!

The Verdict:

Definitely, we will be back. Sulit na sulit siya sa price niya and the service there is great. It's also a plus that the wasabi they use is the real one, unlike in the other Japanese Restaurants, walang ka-anghang anghang wasabi nila =) This restaurant is a must try for you guys! =D

John + Mabel Prenup Photos

One of my good friends in college recently got married. I was one of the bridesmaid / secondary sponsor and I must say, it was one of the most beautiful weddings I have been to. Nasa gitna kami ng golf course mga Ateh! Ang bongga. It was intimate and you could really feel the love radiating from all over. I am so happy for them!! I will blog about the wedding itself as soon as I get the photos from the camera I borrowed from Abbey.

Anyhoo, what surprised me during the reception was the prenup photos!!! I looooove them!!! You see, Mabes is a very simple person. Simple, madaldal and no nonsense. She's one of the most intelligent in our batch and sa kanya kami kumokopya ni Aileen. She's mataray pero I dunno ha, I can feel na sa amin ni Ai, she's very sweet and caring. With that, we have stayed friends even after college. Teka, nagrereminisce na naman ako!

So ayun, eto na  nga, they showed their prenuptial photographs during the reception and kabog na kabog talaga! They shot it in Fully Booked and I have yet to ask her pano sila nagpaalam dun. Though I am not surprised because Mabel loves to read (I think John does too), I found the concept unique!

Here are the photos taken by Richard Buan (click on his name to see his works):

The lovely Mabes and the dashing John

I personally love this photo!

I love this too! Parang nasa Amerika lang sila =)

O divah?! Ang taraaayyyy!!! =D

Congratulations Mabes and John!! Will blog about your wedding ha? =)

Caffe Ti Amo - Italy Gelato and Coffee

My cousin Faye is like a sister to me. We grew up together. And we grew up LOVING ice cream together. When we were young, we could finish a whole gallon of ice cream. Kaming dalawa lang. Those were the days when we can eat anything and everything without worrying of gaining a single pound. Ngayon, amuyin ko lang yung ice cream, tumataba na ako eh.

Christmas Eve, we were at Greenbelt 5. She told she'd treat me ice cream daw. I was so lazy to walk far to where she initially wanted to buy ice cream so we decided to try out Caffe Ti Amo. It is located at the Ground Floor of Greenbelt 5 across the Mango Store.

Ceffe Ti Amo sells coffee and Gelato ice cream. My gawd! I love Gelato ice cream! I gained 20 pounds when I was in Europe because I kept on eating gelato ice cream in Austria and in Holland almost every single day for five months! Take note autumn to winter yung season that time ha? Mura lang kasi! 2 euro for one scoop! Ang sarap sarap pa! *drooling while reminiscing..*

Anyways, we went in and found these delicious looking gelato ice cream: (i apologize for the lousy quality of photos. i used my camera phone)

Yum yum yum!!! They all look delicious that I wanted to try everything!

For the large sized cup, you can order up to three flavors. It costs around Php 120, sorry I don't remember. I was focusing on the ice cream! I chose Ube, Cream Cheese and Green Tea. I tasted it and it tastes okay. It's not as smooth as those I ate in Europe. I dunno if dahil mali lang ang combi ko pero, di ako masyadong natuwa. The Green Tea tastes like the Better Than Ice Cream Green Tea flavored ice cream. The Cream Cheese tastes divine at first pero nakakaumay after. The Ube, well, I'm biased because I love Ube Ice cream. Mapa-mamang sorbetero lang or mapa-sosyal like this.

On the other hand, I love what Faye ordered! She ordered Mint Chocolate which tastes a lot like the Andes Mint Chocolates and Tiramisu. Super sarap! Next time, I'll order that!

Inside the store was cozy. Pwedeng pwedeng hang-out if you just want to relax with a coffee or ice cream. I love this beautiful white and silver rocking chair. Total relaxation ba ang gusto mo?!

I wasn't able to finish the whole cup. Good thing my mom arrived and finished the rest.

The verdict: Ummm.. maybe I will go back. The people serving there weren't really Mr & Ms Friendship pero sige, baka they were just stressed because of the volume of their customers. I'll give it another shot. I'll bring my girlfriends with me for a bonding time =)

Goodbye Mr. M!!

You know what's weird?!

Together with the Christmas greetings that came from my family and friends, I keep on getting this message from Marlboro:

Dear Malboro,

First, I'm not Fleur Rufino. You have mixed me with one of my school mates in high school. Secondly, if this message is indeed for me, then I am sorry. Effective January 2, 2011, I will be withdrawing my support in your company. I will be smoke and nicotine free come my 31st birthday until forever. I want to have better skin and a better odor. I wanna say good bye to yellow teeth and hello to a fresh smile. And lastly, I don't want Anika getting into that habit. I'd rather quit now than Anika seeing me smoke. Baka gumaya pa.

And to those people who are doubting, I am willing to place a bet. You will treat me to an eat all you can buffet at Spiral for every month that I don't smoke. Maghati-hati kayo sa gastos. Otherwise, if I don't keep my word, I'll be the one to treat all of you there. All those who wants to place their bets, comment na!!!!

Anika With Lola Lydia

I love these photos of Anika and her Lola Lydia. Lola Lydia is Alvin's mom. I couldn't have asked for a nicer and kinder mother in law. "Swerte ako sa mother in law ko", I always tell my friends and anyone within earshot. She's selfless, humble and she loves Anika so much.

Anika's outfit: Baby Guess shirt, Gingersnaps drawstring shorts (that I got for Php 150 lang during their sale!), and Addidas baby sandals (thanks Auntie Minnie!)

Here's Mama with her two grandchildren. Baby Paul Gabriel is the son of Alvin's only brother Paul. Baby Gabo is only 20 days older than Baby Anika. Good genes run in their family noh? Pogi and maganda ang mga apo! =)

The Day After Christmas

I didn't make Anika open na her gifts anymore because she will just eat the gift wrappers. I opened and laid them on her play area so that she can see them when she wakes up.

True enough, after struggling to bathe her (she was crying because she wanted to play already with her toys), she sat on her playmat and stared at the big walking pelican bird. After getting used to it, she crawled so fast to make habol the waddling bird! So funny, I swear!

Here's Anika with all her Christmas presents including tons of clothes and this giant stuffed bear (twice her size!) which we named Boogie the Bear. My dad stuffed this stuffed toy inside his luggage so he could bring it to Anika from Amsterdam this Christmas. Thank you so much Lolo Papa and Lola Ellen!!! =D Anika hugs Boogie before going to sleep and after waking up! She talks to it too!!!

When Anika's Uncles and Aunts ask what to give her for Christmas, I always say clothes. My baby girl will never get tired of receiving nice outfits -- Just like her Nanay! Super thanks to her Ninangs and Ninongs who gave her such pretty things to wear!!!

To compensate, I made sure I got her "noisy" toys. I bought her a drum, a clicking camera with music, and a pink stuffed hammer that sings Happy Birthday when you make it pukpok. (Don't ask me why I bought it. Na-cutan ako nung una pero ngayon the song gets annoying every time Anika hammers something!). Apart from the clothes, LT and Ninang Faye got her a xylophone toy that she can hammer too!

Anika checking out the musical drum that "santa" got her. Notice her cute headband? =D

That afternoon, we met up again with Anika's Wowa. Grabe, if you have a family like mine na sobrang galgal, you'll get "suya" kaka-pasyal! Ask my dear hubby!

Anika's purple dress from H&M.

After dining at David's Tea House at Greenbelt 1, we waited for my dad who will be making sabay going home. We had our photos taken muna at the nice Christmas decors in Greenbelt. I'm makeup less again!

The Sombrero family in purple =) It blended well with the pink and violet colors of the Christmas decors =)

With my Papa, Mama and youngest brother Noel. This is a once in blue moon family picture. Me very happy!!! Sayang nga lang 'coz my brother Toots had to go home right after we had dinner. Wala tuloy siya sa picture!

My outfit credits: Purple dress from Forever 21, white slim Havaianas and old rose sling bag from Forever 21
