I Heart Silver Cross Prams and Strollers

I SUPER DUPER WANT THIS FOR ANIKA!!! ISN'T IT SOOOO PRETTY?!?! I am practically drooling when I saw it!

But before i channel my inner JLo (she owns two of those for her twins), let me introduce you to Silver Cross Prams and Strollers.

These postal carts and perambulators were invented by William Wilson on 1877 at Silver Cross St., Leeds. Perambulators are less formally known nowadays as baby prams or any baby carriage. For more than a hundred of years, they have produced high quality - high end carriages and prams. They are highly durable and chic that it is the brand to use by the England's royalty, more specifically by George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother plus her successor Queen Elizabeth for Prince Charles. It is a popular choice also among celebrities in the States.

Presently, styles have evolved into chic and contemporary designs but still with the highest level of quality, baby comfort and safety.

Transporting your babies in this luxurious carriages does not come cheap. I've search the prices for the different models of Silver Cross and found out that prices vary from as low as 15,000 pesos to as high as 50,000 pesos!!! If I'm not mistaken the above pictured pram is the Balmoral model. This is the most expensive of them (this is what JLo has).

PISO PARA KAY GIRLIE

Thanks to Facebook, Girlie (our trusted househelp, now promoted to Anika’s nanny) and Ate Babes are well known na among my friends. I haven’t posted about them anymore these past few days because first, it’s hard to find time to blog because Anika’s taking up most of my time nowadays (my free time is dedicated to sleeping and once-in-a-while-malling). Second, Girlie isn’t spending that much time with Ate Babes because she’s with Anika also most of the day.

Today, I want to make kwento what our beloved Girlie has been through these past few weeks. It all started last December before she left for her annual vacation to her hometown in Bohol.

DECEMBER CAMERA INCIDENT

We went home to find a puffy eyed Girlie opening our front door for us. We ask why and she promptly burst into tears. She had borrowed her Auntie’s digital camera a few months back. That time, she was looking for it the whole day. Guess how she found it?! She stepped on it when the camera fell to the floor when she was making kalkal one of her bags! She was so afraid her Aunt will get mad at her and she’s thinking of how she would pay for a new one (the camera’s lcd was badly broken) with her salary. To give solution to her problem, instead of giving her a Christmas bonus, we gave her money to buy a new camera for her Auntie. Problem #1 solved!

BACLARAN INCIDENT

A week before I gave birth, Girlie made paalam that she and Ate Babes will be going to Baclaran for her day-off to shop. She was so excited that she was talking about it the whole week. She said she’d be buying things she would send to her relatives in Bohol plus some things for her too. On the day, we gave na her salary plus money to buy our clothes hanger, house slippers and one bathrobe for me. She was practically skipping out the door when she left (Baclaran is like her happy place). After a few hours, she went home with puffy eyes again. When we asked what happened, she said she wasn’t able to buy anything because somebody pick pocketed her wallet. When we asked how much was inside it, she cried and told us that all of her month’s salary was in there plus the money to gave her to buy my bilins. We really felt sorry for her and told her to be careful next time and not to bring all of her money when going somewhere.

PHONE INCIDENT

Last Friday was Anika’s second check up with her pedia. As her yaya, Girlie went with us. For your information, Girlie hates riding cars which includes taxis. She becomes car sick and nahihilo talaga siya. We stopped in Sucat on our way to Asian Hospital. Alvin had to get something from his friend. So Girlie asked if she can go out the car as well because she needed fresh air kasi nga nahihilo na siya. So I agreed. Then when we got to the doctor’s clinic, she couldn’t find her cellphone. Until we arrived at our house, she still couldn’t find it! We suspected that her phone fell from her lap when she went out the car in Sucat to get some air. Hay, she’s so malas talaga this year!

Alvin: Girlie, matulog ka na lang kaya buong taon tapos gumising ka na lang next year! Ang malas mo ngayon tao eh!

Girlie: Hu! Hu! Hu!

Alvin: Hindi joke lang.. Wag ka masyadong mag-gagastos this year.. Magipon ka kasi malas ka sa pera this year

Then after that conversation, Alvin was in the bathroom when he heard Girlie talking to our other househelp, Elvie..

Girlie: Alam ko na Elvie gagawin ko this year! Magiipon ako ng magiipon para next year na ako gagastos kasi ang malas ko ngayong taon eh!

Yessss… Ang galing pumick-up ng Girlie namin!!!

Side kwento…

Alvin was again inside the CR when he heard this exchange..

Girlie: Elvie, im so sad..

Elvie: Why naman?

Girlie: I dun’t hab a pone. Pano ko na matetext ang boypren ko?! Baka makipagbreak sakin yun kasi di ako nakakareply sa kanya!

Tsk! Kawawa naman ang dilema ng Girlie namin! Hehehe

So friends, if you’re reading this, I’d like you to know that I will be accepting donations for our househelp Girlie starting today. I will be naming the project, PISO PARA KAY GIRLIE.

Proceeds will go to her cellphone budget (masaya nay un sa 1000-peso phone!) and yung mga magover dun, sa savings niya =)

Welcome Anika Summer R. Sombrero!!!

Date: April 9, 2010 at 1:25 pm
Where: Manila Doctors Hospital
Age at birth: 36 weeks
Weight: 5.5 lbs
Height: 32 cm

We went to the hospital at 1.5cm. I didn't want to go yet because i wanted to wait for the gap of my contractions to be shorter but I had bleeding already so Alvin almost dragged me to the hospital. I think he was super excited lang talaga!

Anyways, after 36 hourse, my cervix didn't want to open anymore to 10cm. After being 9cm for an hour, my OB, Dra. Elena Gomez, talked to Alvin to tell him she had to do the cesarian procedure already because our daughter's head was already coning. After doc talked to Alvin, she went back to the labor room and told her that it was okay daw and Alvin said to let me know that he'd still buy me a bag hehe.. (Alvin promised that if i give birth via normal delivery, he'd buy me a bag that i want)--> suhol for the pain haha!

In the delivery room, before i got groggy, i heard the phone ring. My anesthesiologist (whatever the spelling is!) answered the call. After she hung up, she told me (in a very loud voice), "Your husband called to make sure to tell us to make the cut a bikini cut!" Everybody in the room started laughing. My OB said "Iba talaga yang husband mo!" I smiled but that was the last thing that I remembered. I woke up because a nurse was carrying Anika so that i can breastfeed her. I never felt so much love for someone when I saw her. She was the prettiest thing i have ever seen!

She's three weeks now. And I so lack sleep! I've never been this puyat ever in my whole life! She sleeps, drinks milk and poops a lot!

Here are some pictures of our little princess =)
